The design documentation for the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Burning Bush" on Michurinsky Prospekt was submitted for examination. Burning Bush: the ghost of the church in Neopalimovsky Lane Burning Bush
The famous, not preserved to our time, church in the name of the icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush" was before the revolution near Smolensky Boulevard, in the New Konyushenny yard and left the names of the local Neopalimovsky lanes. It was the first and only church in Moscow consecrated in the name of this image of the Mother of God.
The name of the icon "Burning Bush" comes from biblical story about the miraculous vision of the prophet Moses of a burning thorn bush - bushes, - engulfed in flames and not burning in the fire. From this flame, he heard the Voice of God, announcing to him the coming deliverance of the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery (even the feast of the icon is celebrated by the Church on the same day as the feast of the prophet Moses). Such naming of the image of the Mother of God symbolizes Her assimilation to the Burning Bush, recalling Her Birth of the God-Man and Her Ever-Virginity.
The Most Holy Theotokos is depicted on the icon surrounded by flames, with the Infant Christ in the center of an Orthodox eight-pointed star formed by a combination of red and green rhombus squares. The four green ends-beams symbolize the bush, the thorn bush, which retained its green color in the fire, the four red ends-beams symbolize the flame of the burning and burning bush. On some lists of the image, the letters A.D.A.M. are written at the ends of the rays. - According to ancient legend, the Archangels made up the name of the first person from the first letters of the names of the stars, taken by Them from the four cardinal points. Archangel Michael took the letter "A" from the east on behalf of the eastern star "Anatoli", Archangel Gabriel - the letter "D" from the west of the star "Disis", Archangel Raphael - the letter "A" from the northern star "Arktos", and Archangel Uriel - the letter "M" from the southern star "Mesembria".
The Mother of God as the Queen of Heaven is depicted in the center of the icon. In Her Hands is a ladder as a symbol and the path of Christian salvation, and as a symbol Holy Mother of God, - Ladder, on which God descended to earth, and man ascends to Him. And in commemoration of this, in the four corners of the icon, the Old Testament prophecies about the Incarnation of Christ are symbolically depicted: Moses’ vision of a burning bush, where in its center is written the icon of the Mother of God “The Sign” with the Baby in the bosom, the vision of the “gates” to the prophet Ezekiel, the famous vision of the prophet Isaiah Seraphim with a burning coal, a symbol of Christ, and the "Root of the Tree of Jesse". The last image symbolizes the prophecy of Isaiah: "instead of thorns, cypress will grow ... as an eternal indestructible sign." At the corners of the red quadrangle are the apocalyptic symbols of the holy Apostles-Evangelists - Angel (Matthew), Eagle (John), Taurus (Luke) and Leo (Mark).
Together with the Christian Apostles, all the Heavenly Forces, subject to the Queen of Heaven, surround Her on the icon. In medieval legends, angels controlled the heavenly bodies and the elements (thunder, lightning, wind, rain, frost). And each angel depicted on the icon holds in his hands a symbol of his element, like a cloud, a sword, a bowl, a torch, a closed bow (frost), a figure (wind). This also means the church's idea of natural disasters sent down by the Mother of God on the atheists, which can be rejected through prayer to Her and Her mercy and help are revealed.
It was this icon of the Mother of God that from ancient times was revered as a miraculous protector from fires and thunderstorms. At Sinai, a special rite of service was drawn up for the miraculous image, performed during a strong natural disaster when "lightning is terrible."
The Burning Bush icon came to Russia in 1390, when it was brought to Moscow by Palestinian monks from Sinai. It was soon placed in the newly built Kremlin Cathedral of the Annunciation, and later the list appeared in the royal Holy Entry at the Faceted Chamber. Having an icon revered as a protector from fires was vital for wooden Moscow, but the first throne in the name of the Burning Bush was consecrated only in 1648 after another great fire in the Russian capital. Then they decided to build a temple in the name of this icon on the burned-out Malaya Dmitrovka. There for a long time stood a wooden church of the Nativity of the Virgin, also burned down in a fire. However, since earlier in Russia there was no dedication of temples to the Burning Bush, they decided to build a stone church with the previous consecration of the main altar in the name of the Nativity of the Virgin, and with it to arrange a new chapel in the name of the Burning Bush. Patriarch Paisios of Jerusalem himself asked Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich about this. The sovereign agreed and ordered that money be given for the construction of a church with a chapel of the Burning Bush, the very first in Moscow and throughout medieval Russia. It was consecrated in 1652.
Very soon, a temple in the name of the Burning Bush appeared in Moscow. It was built in 1680 in the Novokonyushennaya Sloboda, near Zubovsky Boulevard, where at that time the Tsar's Stable Yard moved from the Arbat places, and where the palace grooms' settlement was set up. It is interesting that the court of the royal grooms was transferred here after another big fire that happened on its former territory between the Arbat and Prechistenka (the name of Starokonyushenny Lane now reminds of it there).
However, the foundation of the Neopalimovsky temple was not associated with this fire, but with the legendary miraculous salvation of the boyar Dmitry Koloshin, the royal groom, innocently condemned before Tsar Fyodor Alekseevich, the elder brother of Peter I. Then in the Kremlin, in the Holy Entry near the Faceted Chamber, a miraculous image of the Burning Bush was placed , and the boyar often prayed before him. Innocently convicted, he again turned to the icon in tears for help. His prayer was heard. The Mother of God appeared in a dream to Tsar Fedor Alekseevich and declared the innocence of the condemned boyar. The next morning, the frightened tsar ordered Koloshin's case to be re-examined, found him innocent and released him. Saying goodbye, the saved boyar asked the tsar for the image of the Burning Bush from the hallway of the Faceted Chamber and decided to build a church in Moscow in her honor, in his New Stable Yard, with the blessing of the patriarch and at the petition of new parishioners. So the newly built church became a parish for the settlement of the royal grooms, who settled near it.
Since then, according to historical evidence, in the parish of the Neopalimovskaya church, built up mainly wooden houses almost no fires. When a fiery disaster happened in Moscow, the temple image of the Burning Bush was carried around with a procession around the houses of the parishioners, and they remained unharmed.
In 1707, the church was built in stone on voluntary donations - before Peter's ban in 1714, they managed to erect stone buildings in Moscow. Since then, the church has never been rebuilt, although later chapels were built in the name of St. Evangelist Mark and St. Dimitri Rostovsky. Until 1771, a procession was made to it from the Assumption Cathedral in memory of the fact that the revered image of the temple was originally located in the Kremlin in the royal chambers. It is known that in addition to the Burning Bush, a particularly revered image of the Mother of God "Unexpected Joy" was also placed in the Moscow church. And in 1812, another miracle was revealed from her. That fiery autumn to the archpriest Novodevichy Convent a Napoleonic soldier came and returned to him the silver robe stolen from the icon of the Burning Bush from the Moscow church in Novokonyushennaya. He told the priest that ever since he had stolen this chasuble, he had been tormented by a terrible longing. The archpriest, after the expulsion of the French, returned the robe to the Neopalimovskaya church.
In 1892, the Elizabethan Committee, one of the institutions of St. Elizaveta Feodorovna, where poor parents were helped with money to raise children. The Elizabethan Society was created in the same year under the patronage of the Grand Duchess and on the initiative of the manager of the Moscow Orphanage to organize assistance to poor families and children. The Society faced such tasks as ensuring the feeding of infants in the absence or illness of the mother, the organization of orphanages, the education and vocational training of the children of the poor, the arrangement and maintenance of the so-called "children's centers", that is, a nursery where parents could leave their children for all day if they were forced to leave for work. Such a nursery was opened by the Society in Stoleshnikov Lane, in the private house of the merchant Karzinkin, at its own expense. Among the benefactors were the Grand Duchess herself, the Yusupovs, Knop, Morozovs.
Only after the October Revolution, the new government decided to destroy the Moscow church - for the sake of the triumph of the ideology of atheism and for the sake of building in its place in a prestigious area a residential building of the cooperative partnership of the Supreme Council of National Economy. In 1928, by decision of the Moscow City Council, the temple was closed and demolished in 1930.
A chapel in the name of the Burning Bush also existed in the church of St. Clement of Rome in Zamoskvorechye.
This was announced by the assistant rector of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush". The address where it is planned to build a temple complex: Michurinsky Prospekt, opposite vl. fifteen.
A small wooden church was erected at the parish. In the spring of 2015 - in the year of the 1000th anniversary of the death of the Baptist of Russia - the temple was consecrated in the name of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir. Regular services are held in the church.
During this time, the parishioners raised funds for the development of the project of the main temple complex with the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush".
Chief architect of the project: Alexander Ivanovich Zusik, General Director of the Architecton company, Candidate of Architecture, laureate of the UNESCO Prize.
In July 2016, the chairman of the Financial and Economic Department, Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailovsky, agreed on a draft design of the temple complex. Then the designers, headed by the chief architect, began to develop project documentation for the "P" stage. Today, the project documentation is ready and submitted for examination.
The temple and the parish house are solved in one volume. “If we talk about style, we mainly relied on the Pskov tradition,” says architect Alexander Ivanovich Zusik. - Although, of course, there are also elements of the author's vision. That is, we do not directly follow the tradition. Our temple is reminiscent of historical classical Russian churches, however, many details are copyrighted, so this is a new project with an individual face.”
As a decoration of the facades of the temple and the parish house, decorative masonry of solid red brick coated with lime mortar is planned. According to the project, the plinth is lined with granite slabs. Roofing - aluminum sheet with polymer coated, the domes are coated with titanium nitride.
Filling of window openings - double-glazed windows with aluminum enameled profile. Entrance doors - metal, veneered with precious woods. Internal doors - solid wood and metal.
“All materials used must have certificates of compliance with fire protection and sanitary standards,” emphasizes the architect.
“The temple will be located on the banks of the Ochakovsky pond, viewed from all sides, in particular, from Michurinsky Prospekt. A very advantageous place, - the architect notes. - View of the temple from the opposite bank of the pond. This is a rare opportunity to see the temple reflected in the water. Such a classic story. Another good thing: the bell tower faces the pond, which will enhance the acoustic effect. After all, the sound of the bell ringing will be reflected from the water surface. There are not many lakes and rivers in our city where we could use this technique.”
The territory of the temple complex is planned to be landscaped. It is planned to pave the paths with paving stones. A place for a religious procession and a circular detour for fire equipment have been designed around the temple complex.
The entrance to the temple complex is planned from Michurinsky Prospekt with the organization of "green parking".

Near the Ochakovsky pond, opposite vl. No. 15 on Michurinsky Prospekt, the construction of a church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Burning Bush" has begun
Sketch of the future temple of the icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush"
Before the revolution, our capital was called the city of "Forty Magpies". On its territory there were a large number of churches, cathedrals and temples. To listen to the beautiful holiday bell ringing, even residents of other states came here.
It is now believed that one temple per district is enough, but before they were on almost every street. In Soviet times, many churches were remade, destroyed, or even completely wiped off the face of the earth, and, as a result, very few churches remain in Moscow now.
The city is growing, expanding, quite recently huge squares of New Moscow were added to the territory, and few new churches are being built. For example, the population of the Ochakovo-Matveevskoye district is more than 126 thousand people, and quite recently there was a single church here.
In terms of the development of Moscow, a program appeared, according to which a new church of the icon of the Mother of God should appear on the territory of our district. Burning bush».
Residents of the area hope that this temple will be built. We believe that there are people who not only can, but also want to take part in this charitable work.
Every person in his life must have a question: " What will be left after me?».
And then, after many years, standing in front of the temple, someone will say to their children:
« Look, here is a piece of my grandfather, your great-grandfather. It was he who helped people build this temple!».
The entire history of our state proves that the Russian people must cherish their Christian Faith, and many sufferings and misfortunes of our people arose due to the deviation from the Orthodox path.
Brothers and sisters! We have begun a great and God-pleasing work.
Let's build a temple with the whole world!
Don't stay away. This is so important for our children, for our city, our district and for each of us!

Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush"
Traditionally Ancient Russia it is believed that this icon protects housing from fires and is the patroness of all firefighters.
The Burning Bush is a burning, but not burning, thorn bush, in which God appeared to Moses, who was grazing sheep in the desert near Mount Sinai. When Moses approached the bush to see “why the bush burns with fire, but does not burn up” (Ex. 3:2), God called to him from the burning bush and called to lead the people of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land.
The Burning Bush was one of the Old Testament prototypes that pointed to the Mother of God. This burning but not burning bush signified the immaculate conception of Christ from the Holy Spirit. Having become Matter, the Blessed Mary remained the Virgin. You can also find another interpretation of the prototype of the Burning Bush: the Mother of God, having been born on sinful earth, remained pure, not knowing iniquity.
In church hymns, we often come across this Treasured symbol: "Like a bush that is not burnt and scorched, so the Virgin gave birth to ecu." In the stichera for the Annunciation it is sung: "Rejoice, Burning Kupino." Pious Christian zeal embodied this idea in an artistic image.
Icon
In the center of the image is an image of the Mother of God with a baby, who, as a rule, holds in her hands a number of symbolic attributes associated with Old Testament prophecies: the Mountain from Daniel's prophecy, Jacob's Ladder, Ezekiel's Gate, etc. (The ladder in the hands of the Most Pure Virgin means that through the Mother of God the Son of God descended to earth, raising all those who believe in Him to Heaven.)
This image is enclosed in an eight-pointed star formed by two quadrangles - green and red (the natural color of the Kupina and the color of the flame that embraced it). At the corners of the red quadrangle are depicted a man, a lion, a calf and an eagle, symbolizing the four evangelists. Around it, in turn, are images of four Old Testament scenes: Moses in front of the Bush, the dream of Jacob, the Gate of Ezekiel and the Tree of Jesse.
Story
According to legend, the first icon of the "Burning Bush" was brought to Russia from Sinai by Palestinian elders in 1390. The veneration of the "Burning Bush" in Moscow is connected with the following legend:
The stirrup groom of Tsar Feodor Alekseevich Dimitry Koloshin was especially fond of the icon of the Mother of God "The Burning Bush", which stood in the entrance hall at the Tsar's Faceted Chamber. Every time he entered and left the palace, he fervently prayed before the icon. Once the king was angry with his faithful groom and was going to put him on trial. Meanwhile, Koloshin was completely innocent.
Hoping for the help of the Queen of Heaven, the groom with even greater zeal began to pray before the icon. And very soon his request was heard: the Mother of God Herself appeared to Feodor Alekseevich in a dream and announced that the groom before the king was clean and not guilty of the sins erected on him. Then the sovereign ordered a thorough investigation into the case of Koloshin and, not finding his fault, released his faithful servant from the court and returned him to his former location. In gratitude to his Redeemer, Koloshin begged the Tsar for the icon of the “Burning Bush” and in 1680 built a temple in the name of this image.
Tradition tells of other cases. So, the archpriest of the Novodevichy Convent, Vvedensky, told one of the priests of the Neopalimovskaya church, which was located not far from the monastery, the following: “In 1812, when Moscow was occupied by French troops, I was left alone in the monastery. And once he was frightened by the unexpected arrival of a Polish soldier. The soldier handed me a silver chasuble from the icon of the “Burning Bush” and begged me to return the jewel to the church where it was stolen. The military man added that from the time he took off his riza, he was tormented by a strong melancholy. After the French left Moscow, the archpriest returned the stolen jewel to the Neopalimovskaya church.
