Homemade device for fixing drill rods. Do-it-yourself drilling rigs
If you have your own summer cottage, sooner or later you decide to deal with the issue of water supply. To do this, you have to engage in drilling, but it is quite expensive. Or you can make your own drill.
Making a drill yourself is not the easiest thing to do: it will take a lot of time and will be quite expensive, but you will get more than you spend effort and money:
- You will save especially a lot of money if the water is deep.
- You can later make very good money on neighbors who did not want to drill themselves, or failed.
- The drill can later be used to drill under pile foundation. What will be relevant for a summer residence, especially if you are going to expand, or rebuild the fence more thoroughly.
For the successful manufacture of a do-it-yourself drilling rig for drilling wells, you must first decide on the type of drill that you will use, as well as stock up on all the necessary tools: a grinder, a drill, a welding machine, and so on.
Of the most popular drilling rigs, two can be distinguished: shock-rope and auger.
Shock rope
This design is very simple. It is necessary to build a frame, install an electric motor on it, hang a heavy pointed chisel. It also works simply - we drop the chisel and lift it back, clear it of accumulated soil and continue on.
Pictured is a percussion drilling rig
This method is certainly not the fastest, but one of the simplest and does not require additional costs. Also, this design has excellent strength, compactness and simplicity.
Screw installations
Do-it-yourself auger drilling rig is quite simple to manufacture. Such a drill is best suited for drilling not a shallow depth. It is necessary to assemble a frame that will hold a collapsible pipe with a drill at the end. A few turns of the drill are enough. The design is collapsible, as it will need to be extended as it works.
It works as follows: lower the drill, rotate it several times, then remove it and clear it from the ground. Repeat these steps until you reach the required depth. At times it will be necessary to lengthen the pipe.
Pictured is a homemade auger drilling rig
This design is good for its simplicity, however, when drilling to a greater depth, it will be more costly than shock-rope, since many pipe sections will be required.
For greater depths, this design is not suitable due to the excessive length of the pipes and frame.
Instructions for creating a small-sized shock-rope installation
Required items:
- At hand you will need to have a drill, a welding machine and a grinder, and smaller tools, including a screwdriver, adjustable wrenches, a hammer and the like, will not be superfluous.
- First of all, before creating a do-it-yourself percussion-rope drilling rig, you need to acquire a projectile, the weight of which must be at least 80 kilograms. It is a pipe, the length of which can vary from one and a half to two meters, and also vary in diameter. For a summer cottage, they are also suitable for a length of half to one meter. Choose the diameter according to the pipe that you will later use. The projectile must be securely attached to the rope, since it will be almost impossible to get it out of a sufficient depth of the hole later. The bottom edge should be with a hole for the soil and with a pointed end. The projectile will need to be made on a milling machine.
- Now you need to pick up a powerful enough engine that could lift the cartridge. It is necessary to take into account the earth that he will pull out, as well as friction against the walls of the gutter.
- It is necessary to choose a rotor that will wind the rope around itself. And this, not to mention the rope itself, which is selected to the length required for drilling. Take, of course, better with a margin.
- You need to buy a strong block through which the rope will pass.
- Now you need to buy a metal profile or pipes to build a frame. Usually this is a tripod, the height of which should be one and a half meters more than the cartridge. Based on this, you select the material.
Rope drilling rig
Instruction:
- You need to start by turning the cartridge. A hollow pipe of the diameter you need is selected. The length is selected within 0.5 - 1 meter. Next, a hole is made for threading the rope. It is necessary to cut three teeth at the end so that the projectile bites into the ground more easily. You can also cut side holes to make it easier to extract the soil, but they should not be too large. You can do without it. Weight must be at least 50 kilograms, as the quality of drilling will depend on this. If necessary, weld on the load, but so that it does not interfere with the movement of the drill.
- Now we make the frame. It should be one and a half meters higher than the cartridge. It is made in the form of a tripod. This way you can get rid of unwanted staggering. Can be made in the form of a pyramid connecting the legs, or connected only on one side to install the engine. Remember that this design must support the weight and be stable.
- Attach the pulley to the top of the tripod so that the rope can comfortably pass through it. It is important that it does not fray.
- Now you can fix the engine itself. Make pre-holes in the frame, securing it with bolts. Fasten the rotor. You can use a conventional winch instead of the engine to reduce the cost of construction.
- Then you just have to set the tripod to the right place and hang the drill.
On the video, the manufacturing process of the percussion drilling rig:
Required items:
- The tools needed are the same as for the previous option;
- It is also necessary to buy a profile or pipes to create a frame;
- Buy a winch to raise the drill or assemble an option with an electric motor in the same way as described above;
- Turn the turns of the drill with teeth at the end, and also buy pipes that, when assembled, would reach the depth you need.
Scheme of auger drilling rig
Instruction:
- It is necessary to assemble a frame for a small-sized drilling rig. To do this, a tripod is welded with a hole at the top so that the drill can pass. Or you can without this hole, then you just need to hang it. But in this case, the tripod must be very high, so that it is enough for the entire length of the drill.
- Next, we attach a winch to the frame so that we can raise the drill. Since its length can reach impressive values, then the weight will be rather big - you can’t lift it with your hands. We also attach the block to the top of the frame so that a rope can be passed through it.
- You need to make a drill. We take a pipe of the required diameter. Choose a length of one meter. At one end, we cut screw threads or holes so that we can attach the coupling to other sections of the pipe. At the opposite end, we cut the screw screw, 3-4 turns will be enough.
- Now we are making a tee that will be attached to the coupling and will help rotate the structure. Each time you add a new section, simply remove the tee and attach it to the socket at the end of the new section. Also make a hook to which the cable will be attached. It is easier to do this so that the tee and coupling are one and screwed onto the end of the pipe.
- Now it is necessary to make pipe sections with couplings that will fasten them. Make sure that when the pipe rotates, the screw connections do not unwind, but, on the contrary, twist even more tightly.
- Now you can hang the drill and get to work.

Varieties of Boers
How to make a drilling rig with your own hands is a question that we have already answered. But, depending on what kind of soil you need to drill, as well as on the ultimate goal of making the installation, you also need to choose the right drill. Consider the most popular and sought after among them, as well as their direct purpose.
spoon
These drills are best suited for drilling plastic formations (eg clay). It is made quite simply. A pipe of a suitable diameter is taken, then cut out in the form of a bucket. The left end folds inward, and the right end folds over the left. However, it must be sharp.
Spoon drill scheme
By screwing in, such a drill picks up rock into the cylinder, after which it must be removed. Also, once full, it will be useless until cleared.
serpentine
Reminds me of a wood drill. This variety is used for drilling dense loams. Such a drill should be made of durable metal with a hardened end in the form of a swallow tail. Quality manufacturing is very important, as it is used for dense soils. Its action is like a corkscrew - it is screwed into the rock.
Drill serpentine
Drill bits
Bits are mainly used for drilling hard rock. However, for breeds different density different taper angles are selected. It is difficult to make at home, as they are made by forging in dies from a single piece. However, welds usually do not withstand, for this reason their use is not recommended. However, you can make it yourself in a composite way: the blades of the chisel are attached to the body with rivets.
Pictured are drill bits
Today it is quite expensive, which is why not everyone can afford such a pleasure on suburban area. The final price largely depends on the depth of the object. The larger this parameter, the more expensive such a source of clean and cold water. Nevertheless, a do-it-yourself drilling rig is made quite simply. Thus, you can make a well not only for yourself, but also earn some money. Let's talk about everything in order.
Rig classification
To date, there are only 4 types of drilling rigs that are used in one way or another. Some of them are more popular, others less. For example, an installation operating according to the shock-rope principle of operation is the easiest to manufacture. In fact, this is a triangular-shaped frame to which a cable and bailer are attached.
Screw installations are more popular. The screw is used as a working part throughout the process. It is noteworthy that the borehole is not washed with water during drilling.
Rotary units are even more difficult to manufacture. They work on the principle of hydraulic drilling, which already complicates the design. There is also a rotary manual hydraulic drilling rig. It is relatively simple to make such a unit with your own hands, we will talk about this a little lower.
About the advantages of homemade installations
Of course, there are a large number of advantages of a drilling rig assembled on their own. First, it is cost savings. Of course, you will have to buy some components, but this does not compare in price with ready-made equipment. In any case, you will keep approximately 40-50% of your assets and gain experience in the process. Secondly, a homemade drilling rig will have the same technical characteristics as a factory-type product. It's pretty important point, since you can assemble a completely productive device. Typically, the weight of the unit is relatively light, and it can be quickly dismantled and reassembled. Along with decent mobility, this will allow you to drill wells even in the most inaccessible areas. As you can see, at least take away the merits. Let's move on to the practical part and talk directly about the assembly.
What do you need to get started?
Naturally, just taking and making a drilling rig will not work. To do this, you first need to prepare. It is desirable that by the time of assembly you have a minimum experience with welding. This will greatly facilitate your life, since you will not need to involve specialists or acquaintances. Also at hand should be an electric drill and a grinder. Why all this is needed, we will consider a little later.
But this is not the whole list of tools. It will be difficult for you to do without a device for creating an external thread, as well as an adjustable wrench and a plumbing cross. As a material, we need a galvanized pipe and a ½ inch drive. A special coating in our case is necessary, since if there is no zinc, the pipe will quickly rust. There is nothing good in this, since replacing it is a very problematic task. Well, now let's move on to the practical part of this article.
The first stage of assembly work
At the very beginning, we need to prepare the pipe sections of the drilling rig, which are its main part. Their connection is realized by means of drives and crosses. To avoid any problems, a 2-centimeter external thread is provided at the ends of each pipe section. A metal plate is welded to two segments, it will be a tip. Such an installation will be effective only if water is constantly supplied to the drilling site. This will remove the soil, and thereby gradually deepen the hole. To supply water, you can use a regular hose that connects to the hole in the cross blank. In priority, the connection must be made using a suitable adapter. Well, now let's go further.
Do-it-yourself mini-drilling rig: we continue to work
At this stage, you should threaded connections. It is necessary to ensure that they are durable, since the duration of the operation of the drilling rig depends on this. The equipped tip should be connected to the lower end of the pipe, that is, to the one that will be in direct contact with the surface to be treated. The connection should be made with the help of a drive.
You should have several tips on hand. This is necessary so that in the process of work they can be changed. That is, at the very beginning of drilling, the shortest one is used, and after we get a hole 1 meter deep, we set a longer one. At the same time, you must understand that the length of the tip and the workpiece are different. Drilling is carried out by rotating the working unit. The sharp tip and water will do the rest of the work for you. In general, this stage is quite simple, the main thing is that the connections are of high quality and the tips are strong. By the way, the latter must be changed periodically, as they will break, become dull, etc.
How to make a drilling rig with your own hands?
We have already done about half of the work. But then there were the most responsible and important stages. The basis of the drilling structure is assembled from a square section profile. By and large, this is a rack with the constituent elements of our design. To connect the supports to the racks, you must use the transition platform. It is quite natural that in this case it is problematic to do without welding. If you can, then cook it yourself, if not, call someone who will do it well.
The platform and the motor are attached to a square profile. The latter is mounted on a rack in such a way that it can move along it, that is, pivotally along the guides. It is desirable that the dimensions of the profile at least slightly exceed the dimensions of the rack. Any self-made, must have a suitable electric motor or gasoline engine. Regardless of the type of power element, its power must be at least 0.5 liters. With. This will be quite enough for the drilling process to proceed normally. It is desirable that it be possible to adjust the power; for this, an intermediate shaft must be installed between the engine and the working body.
Completing work
Now we turn on the water. Please note that it must be fed to the drill during the entire period of work. If this simple rule is not observed, then drilling efficiency will decrease significantly. High-performance drilling rigs with a high number of revolutions often imply the presence of water cooling. In our case, this is not necessary at all, but it is necessary to remove the soil from the well in any case. If you follow all the above rules, then everything will be fine. In any case, homemade drilling rigs require care and periodic maintenance. With your own hands, you will repair them, change the tip, change the lubricant in the gearbox, etc.
Conclusion
There is currently great amount varieties of home-made installations for drilling wells. Some of them are really good and have high efficiency, the design of others leaves much to be desired. For example, if you decide to make a drilling rig with a cartridge, then the weight of the latter should be as large as possible. This is due to the fact that it is they who will carry out drilling. As a blank, you can take a pipe with a diameter of 10-12 cm and a length of 10-20 cm. This should be quite enough for effective work.
Now you know how a do-it-yourself drilling rig is made. During the assembly process, it is desirable to use popular drawings, which will allow you to observe the dimensions and design features. Your homemade drilling rig will be no worse than any factory, and maybe even better.
The simplest water intake device is the well of the Abyssinian well. To arrange it, you do not need sophisticated equipment or fixtures at all. It is enough to get a "woman", and this is a load of 20 - 25 kilograms and make a bollard - in fact, a clamp that securely covers the clogged pipe.

Drawing fig.1 does not include a tripod. Without denying the effectiveness of this method, we draw your attention to the fact that it is easier to control the direction of immersion with a tripod, because the pit must be strictly vertical. A tripod is easy to make with your own hands from improvised materials.
Fig.2. Homemade drilling rig for Abyssinian wells
Drilling of classic wells for water can be carried out by shock-rope method, the equipment for the implementation of this technology is so simple that it “asks” to be made by hand.
Fig.3. Scheme of the installation device for percussive-rope drillingThe simplest small-sized installations of this type allow drilling wells for water to a depth of 100 meters. A characteristic disadvantage of this method is poor performance during sinking, since the process is associated with constant lifting of the tool for unloading the soil from the wells after every 5 - 8 strokes.
At the same time, the shock-rope method enables the most high-quality opening of aquifers. The simplest fixture shown in Fig. 1 can be easily upgraded by installing a drive on a winch with a reset clutch, as well as installing an additional manual lifting mechanism for assembling casing pipes, which can be done by hand at home.
Fig.4. Homemade auger drillSelf-made installations for drilling water wells using auger tools are popular. This is a whole range of solutions from a simple garden drill, on which it is possible to increase the length of the drill rod, to quite complex mechanisms that fit the MGBU classification. They already use electric or internal combustion engine traction.
If you wish, you can make a simple auger drill with your own hands, because it will be useful not only for drilling water wells, but also when building site fences and when creating a pile grillage foundation, significantly reducing the amount of earthwork. To do this, you can use the drawing from Fig. 3, if necessary, changing the dimensions in accordance with the preferences of the manufacturer.
More complex devices for drilling pits in this way include a drilling derrick, which is a traditional tripod.
Fig.5. Scheme of manual auger drilling using a tripodOne worker can do the job, but there is a danger of the drill string deviating from the vertical. Therefore, they usually work together, evenly loading both sides of the lever.
Given the complexity of the work, it is advisable to mechanize the drilling process as much as possible. There are all conditions for this, a field of short searches in the construction markets, you can purchase any parts or assemblies and make a drill yourself.
Fig.6. Self-made auger drilling rig with flushingAs can be seen from Fig. 6, many industrial designs cannot be compared with such a home-made product in terms of the elegance of execution and layout of such an installation. Judging by the type of conductors, the electrical circuit is designed and executed for a voltage of 220 volts. The size of the drilling tool shows that the rig is capable of drilling medium and high production wells.
For self-drilling of wells (for water and not only), at least a small drilling rig is required. The depth of wells is rarely less than 20 meters, and it is very difficult to do without the use of even the simplest mechanisms. If we talk about drilling techniques and types of quarry rigs, then you can make the following drilling rigs with your own hands:
- Shock-rope installation. The principle of operation of this type of equipment is based on gravity. At some height, a heavy drilling projectile is fixed in sharpened edges - a glass or a bailer.
about "drop" several dozen times. Each time the projectile cuts through a certain part of the soil, and the rock gets stuck inside the hollow projectile (for loose soils, they are equipped with valves). The glass is removed from the well, the soil is removed. Further, the process continues until the well reaches the required depth. For independent execution, such devices are the simplest. In the most budgetary version, this is a kind of frame that allows you to fix the block above the well. A long cable with a tied bailer is thrown over the block. You can pull the cable “manually”, or you can install a gear motor with a drum. - Screw drilling rig. Deepening into the ground occurs with the help of an auger - a rod with blades welded on by a screw. With an auger, you can manually drill wells a couple of meters deep - under a pile foundation, for example. To pass through dense layers such as clay or dense sands, a solid force is required. Therefore, an engine with a large torque is required, and they operate from 380 V. And then, screw installations are practically useless on stony soils. And anyway - it's just a small stone like crushed stone or rocks - the auger will not pass them.
- Rotary drilling. The principle of rotation is also used, but drilling fluid (water) is fed into the drill. it effective method- water brings sludge (crushed rock) to the surface, and the drill is very rarely taken to the surface. It is only constantly increased from above by installing additional rods. There are rotary installations of "dry" drilling - without solutions, but they require a lot of effort, the drilling speed is much lower. Therefore, such installations are rarely made and used.
The choice of the type of drilling rig for making it yourself depends on the geology of the area where they will be drilling, and the depth of the aquifers also affects. The most universal method is shock-rope. Different soils pass well with the help of rotary equipment using water (this method is also called hydrodrilling). For different types of soils use different shapes chisels, and the crushed soil is washed to the surface with water.
The most “capricious” auger drill in terms of soils, but it copes well with viscous soils - clays, loams, but it gets stuck with boulders and rocky soil.
Methods for purifying water from a well or well are described here.
In the manufacture of a drilling rig for cable-percussion drilling, there are two important element: bed and glass (cartridge, bailer). For the most simple option you can make a bed of three or four pipes that connect over the place where drilling will take place. A block is fixed there, a flexible steel cable is thrown through it.
To reduce physical stress, a winch is installed, for even greater automation, a motor with a gearbox that rotates the winch shaft. At the same time, it is important to come up with a system that will allow you to release the winch shaft and reset the bailer.
The tripod frame is not always convenient - it requires a large area. Moreover, for stability, the “legs” should be at an equal distance from the center. Jumpers between all supports will also not interfere. In this case, the drilling rig will stand securely. There is another version of the frame - in the form of the letter "H" with telescopic rods (pictured below).
The vertical stand is also telescopic. It allows you to change the height from which the projectile is dropped. The rest of the equipment is the same.

Home-made designs of MGBU are successfully used in the development of water wells for private households. There are many advantages to such equipment:
- compact size and light weight;
- simple design;
- high efficiency and versatility;
- affordable transportation, quick installation and dismantling;
- absence negative impact on the landscape of the site where the well is being developed;
- the ability to use in small areas and in confined spaces (house extensions, garages and basements);
- connection to a standard electrical network or an independent power source;
- affordable cost of homemade devices;
- high maintainability.
- drilling - the height of a hand drill does not allow reaching even the horizons of the top water, therefore, after deepening by 1 - 1.5 m, the rod is increased by the next section;
- casing - usually made of polyethylene pipes, in the lower part it is perforated with slots or round holes, or a factory, home-made filter is attached to the bottom;
- flushing - usually 2 - 3 buckets of very dirty water are pumped out, then 1 - 2 cubes of liquid with sand go, after which the quality returns to normal;
- low construction budget - purchase of a drill; manufacture of rods with locks for extension;
- penetration rate - the auger is an Archimedes screw, along which the soil independently moves up.
- complex vertical positioning;
- numerous descents/ascents.

In the manufacture of a mini drilling rig, the RA-1000 winch is used. You can take another, but preferably with a carrying capacity of at least 1 ton (or better, more). Some drillers put on two winches, one electric and the second mechanical. In the case of a wedge of the drill string, it helps a lot.
To facilitate the work, it is advisable to buy and connect two remotes: one reverse and move the engine, the other to the winch. This will save a lot of energy.
A gear motor for a home-made mini drilling rig will be required at 60-70 rpm, with a power of 2.2 kW. Weaker won't fit. If you use more powerful, you will need a generator, since it will not be possible to connect to a voltage of 220 volts. Recommended for hydrodrilling motor-reducer models: 3MP 31.5 / 3MP 40 / 3MP 50.
Do-It-Yourself Drilling Basics
1. Purchase of drill rods and swivel (please note that the parts have the same thread, or use an adapter). To begin with, you don’t need to buy a lot, focus on a depth of 30 meters.
2. Buying a motor - gearbox. These purchases take a long time and there are often delays that are beyond your control, so it's best to buy in advance.
3. Making a frame and a drill. When making a frame, it is desirable to have a motor, swivel and winch on hand, since all this must be mounted on the frame. It is also problematic to make a carriage without a motor on your own, since the mounts for different motors may differ.
4. We buy the remaining components of the mini drilling rig after installing the main components on the frame.
To make a water well manually, auger or shock-rope technology is used. The hydraulic method will require a drilling rig. A collapsible small-sized model can be made according to the drawings from our website. And, perhaps, drilling water wells with your own hands will become your business.
screw method
Working with an auger is the easiest manual way. It is used only to obtain shallow sources, the water from which will be used for technical purposes.
To perform independent drilling, you need a drill, which, when screwed into the ground, destroys the rock and captures the soil with its blades. Periodic pulling out of the auger is necessary to clean it from sludge. This work is done without helpers.
In addition to the drill, you will need a tripod to which the auger is attached, a lifting mechanism (manual with a winch or mechanized). Drilling is impossible without these devices. Even a few people will not be able to lift a drill with soil from a sufficient depth.
The most difficult is drilling strictly vertically. Only a fixed drill will give the necessary verticality, without which the pipes are deformed. To ensure proper verticality, after passing 2 meters, you need to set a temporary metal pipe- the conductor, which will set the correct direction of movement.
The auger method can be used in soft soils. If the auger rests on a moraine, then you will have to repeat the process in another place. Quicksands are also of great difficulty. Softened soil is difficult to pull to the surface. Only the auger, which has blades bent to the top, helps.
To make a source in clay and loamy soils, it is better to use the shock-rope method. This method is more time consuming, but reliable and simple. For work, a drill glass is used - this is a cylinder with honed edges.
The essence of the method is to raise the glass (in other words, the cartridge) to the height from which it is dropped. Upon impact, the cylinder becomes clogged with soil. Raising the glass to the surface, the excess soil is removed.
The shock-rope method is good for almost all soils. But it takes a lot of effort, so often used hydraulic systems to raise the cartridge.
The percussion-rope technology is also good in that it shows when water-bearing sand appears. Upon reaching which, a bailer with a valve is used, capable of lifting liquefied soil.
Manual hydraulic drilling
Water drilling is effective in sandy soil. The problem of hydrodrilling is rocky soil. Stones cannot be passed by hand; a percussion drilling rig is needed.
Regardless of the method, when sampling the soil, it is necessary to case the well with pipes. You will need to install a perforated filter and a pump.
To make a well with your own hands without equipment using these technologies, you will need various tools and materials. Below will be considered the budget, the pros, cons of the designs of water intake sources.
Manual auger
), create a field for collecting heat from the ground when installing a ground-to-air heat pump, when installing column foundation and many other construction works. A small-sized drilling rig will facilitate and significantly speed up the processes. With some welding skill, you can do it yourself.
Types of homemade drilling rigs
For self-drilling of wells (for water and not only), at least a small drilling rig is required. The depth of wells is rarely less than 20 meters, and it is very difficult to do without the use of even the simplest mechanisms. More details on how to break through and equip a water well are described.
How to make a rotary drilling rig
The hydraulic drilling rig must have a frame that allows you to move up / down the motor, to which the drill is connected through a swivel. Water is also supplied through the swivel into the column.
When making a drilling rig with your own hands, the following procedure is recommended:
The frame of the mini drilling rig consists of three parts:
- horizontal platform;
- vertical frame;
- movable frame (carriage) on which the motor is fixed.
The base is cooked from a thick-walled pipe - wall thickness 4 mm, minimum - 3.5 mm. Better - from a profiled section of 40 * 40 mm, 50 * 50 mm or so, but a round one is also suitable. In the manufacture of the frame of a small drilling rig, accuracy is not important. It is important to observe the geometry: verticality and horizontality, the same angles of inclination, if necessary. And the dimensions are "customized" in fact. First, the lower frame is cooked, measured. Under the available dimensions, a vertical frame is made, and according to its dimensions - a carriage.
You can make a simple drill fort yourself - they are made from ordinary steel (drawing in the photo below). If you take high-alloy steel, it is difficult to weld it to the rods. For complex and rocky soils, it is better to buy a drill in a specialized campaign - they have a complex shape, there are many different types.
To make it easier to work, connect two remote controls with the possibility of reverse running. One is put on the motor, the second on the winch. That, in fact, is all.
In the design of a drilling rig for rotary or auger drilling, the main thing is a swivel, but it is unrealistic to manufacture it without experience. For those who want to make it themselves, we will post a photo and its drawing.
The simplest auger drilling rig
If the aquifers are shallow, the soils are soft, you can get by with a mechanical drilling rig with an auger. This is the same tripod or any other frame with a block through which the cable is thrown. Only instead of a bailer or a drill glass, an auger is attached to the cable. In its upper part there is a crossbar with which it is turned.
To facilitate the process, it is desirable to have a winch or at least a gate (like a well). But you can make a rotary drill similar to the one described above. Only the structure of the swivel will change - it is needed without a drain for the water supply. The work of one of the drilling rigs, assembled by a craftsman with his own hands, from improvised materials - in the next video. You can also consider the design features.
And the last moment - a video on how to make an auger for a drilling rig with your own hands.
Why do you think there are so many companies selling small drilling rigs?
The answer is simple: this is a very profitable business, since the cost of a small-sized drilling rig is almost 2 times lower than its selling price.
And the demand for drilling rigs is skyrocketing! After all - one of the most profitable today!
1. Savings in the manufacture of homemade drilling rigs.
2. Vertical drilling rigs for drilling water wells.
3. Horizontal drilling rigs - for horizontal drilling - HDD.
We save on assembling a small-sized drilling rig with our own hands.
Calculate for yourself how much you can save. Only on one frame, the savings will be from 30 to 50 thousand! Don't forget about transportation costs, because delivery of a drilling rig to your city is not a cheap pleasure. Go to any website transport company- and estimate how much you will need to add to the price of the drilling rig for delivery.
It is really easier for many drillers to buy some components of a drilling rig in a company, since they require complex turning work, which not every turner can handle.
But the main element - the frame of the drilling rig and the carriage is quite within the power of anyone who can hold welding, a grinder and a drill in their hands. In any case, each driller will have to master these tools, since various elements break in any drilling rig during operation. This is inevitable, because in the bowels of the earth, in addition to sand and soft clay, there are also stones of various hardness, up to rocks and granite. And it is impossible to guess in advance where such stones will come across to you. Therefore, every driller must be able to repair his tool.
Well, if you know how to use the listed tool, then you are quite capable of building a home-made drilling rig that will be no worse, and most likely even better! Why is it better? Yes, because you will do it FOR YOURSELF! And “factory drilling rigs” are often sold with minor imperfections, and sometimes with outright marriage. And it is quite difficult to notice this marriage without experience - most likely, it will be discovered only when you start drilling!
Make your own drilling rig!
How to make it? There are at least four ways (if someone knows more ways - feel free to write in the comments). So, here are the main ways:
- If you are well versed in technology, then making a drilling rig with your own hands will be a very real task for you. You just need to go to a company that sells portable drilling rigs - and carefully look at how they work. Once we went exactly this way. There was no money for a finished drilling rig, and we didn’t know where to buy the drawings: no one was selling them then. The main elements of a small-sized drilling rig are shown. And the work of one homemade drill can be seen in the video at the end of this page.
- If the first option seems complicated to you, there is an easier way: you can buy drawings of a drilling rig from us, which describes in detail all the stages of manufacturing a drill, as well as all the dimensions of the parts. This method is much simpler, since you don’t have to invent anything, and there is always someone to ask if something is not clear. In addition, you will save a lot of time.
- If the second option does not suit you, then there is another way: to make a simple drilling rig for percussion drilling. You can read about such settings.
- And finally, the fourth way - for the most economical - see this video:
Comes with our drawings detailed instructions and schemes for assembling a homemade drilling rig. In addition, we provide free consultations to all buyers of our drawings.
A frame for a drilling rig according to our drawings can be made by any novice driller.
Part of the drilling equipment can only be bought in a store - for example, a motor and a motor pump.
Part of the drilling equipment must be made on lathes. This is a swivel and bits for drill rods. For additional savings it is better to order turning work from a turner. But if you don't find a turner in your city who can make these parts - that's okay - you can also buy them from us or from any company that sells drilling machines.
Small Water Well Drilling Rig
"EAST"
A modernized version of a small-sized drilling rig based on classical scheme used on "Minskaya", "Vologda" and similar economy-class drilling rigs.
The characteristics of a do-it-yourself drilling rig are in practice absolutely identical to any small-sized drilling rig offered by drilling equipment sellers. Drilling power and drilling depth depend only on the motor power. All manufacturers of electric small-sized drilling rigs complete their drills with low-speed motors and a power of 2.2 kW. Some “inventors” also install more powerful electric motors, but such drilling rigs inevitably have a connection problem, since commercially available frequency converters allow you to power a three-phase motor with a power of no more than 2.2 kW from a household network (220 Volts).
1. Very low cost due to significant savings in the manufacture of a drilling rig with your own hands.
2. The quality of a home-made drilling rig is almost never lower than factory ones, and often it significantly exceeds factory ones!
3. Absolute similarity specifications home-made drilling and factory drills (motor power, drilling speed and drilling depth).
4. Low weight of the machine (gross weight is about 300 kg) and compactness (can be drilled indoors).
5. Mobility. Drilling in hard-to-reach places (rig can be disassembled and easily carried by hand).
6. Assembly-disassembly of the installation takes no more than 30 minutes.
7. Easy to transport (the machine can be transported in a light trailer).
8. 2 people can work with a small-sized drilling rig.
Drawing set:
1. A detailed guide for the manufacture of the frame of the drilling rig and the carriage.
2. Scheme of a homemade drill.
3. Guide to self-manufacturing borax.
4. Drawings of locks for drill rods with trapezoidal and conical threads.
5. Drawing of a swivel.
Mini Horizontal Drilling Rig
"Horizon-1"
Advantages of the drilling rig:
1. Minimum investment (about 5 thousand rubles for elementary turning, about 5 thousand for metal, from 1 to 2 thousand for welding, a motor from 5 thousand rubles)
2. The drilling rig and all the necessary drilling tools can be transported by a station wagon car.
3. Absolutely anyone, in any city, can find spare parts and manufacture a drilling rig under our guidance.
4. To make any of our Horizon drilling rigs with your own hands, you don’t even need a garage! The small size of these drilling rigs allows you to make them even on an ordinary balcony of a city apartment! If you have an inverter welding machine, you can even cook on the balcony if you wish!
5. Very high production speed (about 2 weeks).
6. Very light - 2 people are enough to work with this drilling rig.
7. A pit measuring 190 x 80 cm is enough to work with this drilling rig (depth is optional). For more comfortable work, the desired dimensions of the pit are 190 x 90 cm.
